Snowfall In D Minor

Snowfall In D Minor is Muidas’ seventh single, the first one of the “Fragile Oasis“ project. The song is characterized by a dreamy and melancholy mood, with enchanting melodies accompanied by emotional piano chords.

The first section serves as an introduction to the soundscape. It begins with a repeating three note pattern on a tongue bell, paired with sinking piano chords and the sound of falling snow. The song then progresses to a bridge section, which elevates the sense of mystery through a key change (D minor to A minor dorian) and a sequence of deep piano chords. After a few beats, this section gently moves back to the key of D minor. Tension builds up as almost all instruments come to a stop and a gentle cello phrase marks the end of the movement. The final section brings back the initial chord progression but with more energy. A cello pizzicato spices up the beats, preparing the listener for a dramatic cello solo that ends the song.

The song narrates a journey through the forest in a snowstorm. It is also a metaphor of a spiritual journey through loss and transformation.
